(Cadastral map of site also available: 76 K)

Located in Lac Saint-Pierre, between the St. François River and the eponymous bay, île Saint-Jean is an area devoted primarily to agriculture. A large part of the region is under cultivation; however, there are a few abandoned agricultural lands and a few woodlands dominated by silver maple. Few data are available on the flora and fauna of île Saint-Jean.

The Nature Conservancy of Canada acquired 0.68 hectare at this site when the opportunity arose in connection with transactions involving île au Cochon, Baie Lavallière and île de Grâce. The site acquired consisted of abandoned agricultural land.
